From Hot-Headed to Cool, Calm & Collected: My Journey of Overcoming Anger

Here is a quick example of how I overcame a potentially very annoying situation. If I would have let it annoy me, it could have even spoiled my day! My friend and I have been looking forward to watching ‘John Wick 4’ when it came out to buy. I introduced my pal to the franchise, and we had enjoyed the previous three movies together. It was a real Bromance! I got us some popcorn and was looking forward to watching the latest film on his great big-screen 4K TV. In the past, I have got a little frustrated with him using his phone when we are watching something. It’s (kind of) a bit rude. When people do this in the cinema, it can be frowned upon. This seems especially true of British culture. We can get so hooked on phones in an age of superspeed communications. We got the film going and low and behold, he was doing it again! I asked if he wanted to put his phone on airplane mode and enjoy the film? He flatly refused, which is fair enough! Yet, it still bothered me that he couldn’t...

How Do I Relax?

Have you ever had a busy day and your mind has struggled to wind down? I get this so bad that sometimes I struggle to get to sleep! Many people come home after a long day at work and stick on the television to switch off their busy minds and relax. Of course, there is nothing wrong with this if it works for you. However, I find… the trouble with watching TV is it that it is a passive activity. You cannot always be in control of what comes at you through this box of moving light. It draws you in and you can end up watching more than you intended to. “I really should go to bed… one more episode… I’m really enjoying this!”. If you can switch off at the end of it all, great! I find that I have to be very particular about what I watch (If I watch anything at all!). Something exciting, such as TV, a podcast or a book can keep me awake at night, as it stimulates my central nervous system and the endorphins run amock.
